Google’s research has revealed that new internet users have been affected in the socio-economic context caused by the Kovid-19 global epidemic. The overcrowded situation has widened the gap between users and challenged new Internet users. These include not being able to use the internet due to financial inconsistencies, little idea about using digital media and not having the opportunity to use the necessary devices.

Google’s Next Billion User Initiative research team’s research report titled ‘New Internet Users in a Covid-19 World’ came up with this information.

In the new reality due to Kovid, organizations providing trade, education, healthcare and other government emergency services are conducting their activities online. However, those who have little access to the Internet will face many complications in moving forward in new situations and roaming the online world.

The research report identifies eight areas in which new users need to use the Internet. One of which is the use of data for various urgent needs. From food supplies to education, jobs have been transformed a lot online. In that case, staying online for a long time has become important. And because of this, the cost of using data will increase, which will affect the quality of life.

Caesar Sengupta, vice president of Google’s Payments and Next Billion User Initiative, said: “Everyone is being challenged by the Covid-19 global epidemic; New Internet users in particular have been affected. However, in this situation, if the government, business organizations and civil society organizations work together, they will be able to create opportunities in a coordinated manner. Technology is playing an important role in our lives and the digital economy is growing. Therefore, in the post-Covid-19 world, better quality and inclusive Internet services should be delivered to millions of current users and millions of new Internet users in the days ahead.

The study was conducted with participants from Brazil, Mexico, India, Indonesia and Nigeria.
